At the moment, we have two main accounts: our General Fund and our Building Fund. The General Fund is funded primarily by Sunday collections and Faith Direct. We use the General Fund to pay salaries, bills, security costs, repairs and improvements. The Building Fund (One Church Growing Together) will be used for all the costs of building the Early Childhood Center. The Building Fund receives monies from payments to pledges; Ten Buck Sunday; Pennies For Playground; Hispanic Food Sales.
Let me give a concrete example of how this works. This July, we will have major work done on the sewer lines running from the atrium outside of Ross Hall to the school. This will be paid for from the General Fund. In fact, we ALREADY have the money set aside for the project. The building of the Early Childhood Center will be a great blessing to our school and our parish life. It will help the parish grow. It will free up space for non school activities. Building the Center will NOT deplete the General Fund.
A WORD ABOUT OUR PLAYGROUND
Dogs (including my dog) are not allowed on our school playground. If I see anyone on the playground with a dog, I ask them to remove the dog. Because we live in a time in which some people feel entitled to do whatever they wish, this sometimes makes people angry.
As a “dog person”, I know what dogs do. Children should not have to play in areas where dogs have been relieving themselves. It’s simply hygiene.
Also, the playground equipment is designed and built for children. Adults are most often too heavy to play on the equipment. Repairing and replacing playground equipment is very expensive. The playground is for kids, folks.
BEWARE!! BEWARE!! JULY IS ALMOST HERE!!
Remember, in July, much of the complex will be closed for the sewer line repair work. You will be able to access the church via the front doors of the church. Other than Masses, no events are going to be scheduled for that month.
WE HAVE A SUMMER SEMINARIAN!
Henry Nguyen is staying with us for the summer. He is halfway through his priestly formation. You will see him serving on the altar frequently. Please take time to meet him and encourage him. Pray for him and for an increase in priestly vocations.
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY, GUYS!! FATHERS ARE GIFTS FROM GOD.
