A SUGGESTION ABOUT PARKING Our parking challenges continue. One idea I would toss out is allowing visitors and the older parishioners to park in front of the church. The expansive back parking lot should be used by younger and more mobile parishioners. Visitors would not be aware of the back parking lot.
Also, I was wondering if this idea would work: we could acquire a six person golf cart and ferry people from the parking available at the new civic plaza to the church. I'm sure The Village would not mind if we used those parking spots on Sunday morning. Of course, we would need volunteers to drive the cart. (Also, remember, the post office is not open on Sundays. No one is there.)
CROSS INTERNATIONAL PRIEST HERE NEXT SUNDAY
I am going on a pilgrimage with about 25 Catholics to France as of the 22nd. (I am going to be allowed to celebrate a Mass in the cathedral in Avignon, a big thrill for me!) Next weekend, a Cross International priest will be at all our masses. They enjoy coming to St. Eugene because the parish has proven a generous partner for them. As you know, they work faithfully to alleviate poverty in the Third World.
48 HOURS OF EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
We will offer a full 48 hours of eucharistic adoration beginning after Mass on Monday the 28 and concluding with Benediction on Wednesday the 30th. Security will be present for the overnight hours. A signup sheet will be available in the narthex or use the QR code provided in the bulletin.
HOW TO REMAIN AT PEACE DURING A VERY DIVISIVE ELECTION SEASON
I would recommend five things. First, go out of your way to engage people who hold different political beliefs than you. Don't discuss or debate politics; rather, try to get to know them better. Second, remember that the media wants to make you mad or anxious. Keeping their viewers unsettled is good for business. Watch less of it. Third, think long term. Presidents come and go; God remains. The world is in the hands of God Almighty and all will be well for those who love God. Fourth, intensify your morning and evening prayer routine. I find the Psalms to be very comforting. Finally, we must remember that our political opponents are not our enemies. We are all Americans.
