Hello, my name is Fr. Jerome Krug, and along with Fr. Jim, I am your new priest. I have been a priest three years. My first year as a priest was spent doing additional studies in marriage and family as well as in the intersection of psychology and theology. My most recent assignment before coming here was in the parishes of the Panhandle. There are four of them and they made for a very diverse and fascinating assignment.
I grew up in the Oklahoma City area so coming to St. Eugene’s is a bit of a homecoming. I am the oldest of seven children, and my youngest sibling is thirteen years old. I grew up at St. Monica Parish in Edmond, where my family still attends. I was homeschooled starting in kindergarten all the way through the eighth grade. At that point I attended Mount St. Mary for high school. I will be returning there this year to serve the Mount community as their chaplain – a true privilege.
I entered seminary immediately following high school after a brief period of discernment. The more I learned about who Jesus was and had personal experiences of his love for me, the more convinced I became that there was nothing else I’d rather do than to bring Jesus to people as a priest.
I like to be physically active and be outdoors. I am a dog lover and have a puppy coming in mid- August. I am a big fan of many types of music and almost always have my Spotify app playing. I enjoy getting to know people and to hear their stories. Coffee is an important part of my life. I look forward to getting to know you more in our time together.
