We broke ground for our new Marian Shrine after receiving a pricing estimate from the construction company we are using to build the Early Childhood Center. We’ve been very happy with their work. The projected cost was well within our ability to fundraise.
Two weeks ago, the company asked for a meeting with me and Sharon Blakely to discuss a revision in the budget. During the meeting, we were presented with a new cost estimate that was, basically, double the original price (!).
Needless to say, we are going to rebid the project. We’re also going to meet with the Landscape Architect to identify where costs may be cut.
Since Covid, inflationary pressures in the construction industry have made building projects unpredictable.
We will build this Shrine. Let us press forward.
THE ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL
I hope you’ve had time to make a pledge to the Annual Catholic Appeal. It’s a great cause that lifts all boats, as they say. Any gift you can make will be most appreciated. You can use one of the ACA envelopes we have in the pews or you can go the Diocesan website and pledge there (but, be sure and mark St. Eugene as your home parish!).
