Each year the Archbishop approaches his parishes to seek their help in funding his ministries throughout the Archdiocese. Without our financial support, much of the Archbishop’s work would be left undone. For example, the work of educating future priests depends on the generosity of the faithful. So does the work of the Tribunal, which helps countless numbers of Catholics come back to the Church. Hispanic ministry, family life ministry, the Sooner Catholic newspaper; all of these endeavors are funded through the Annual Appeal. It is a blessing to join the Archbishop as his coworkers in these important ministries.
At St. Eugene, our goal for 2023 is $160,000. If every family within the parish would pledge something on a monthly basis, this goal would be easily reached. Please consider pledging a gift this year. Pledge forms are readily available and you can simply drop your completed pledge into the Sunday offering.
ASH WEDNESDAY
Remember, one does not have to be a Catholic to receive the Ashes. On Ash Wednesday, we will have Mass with ashes at 6:30 am; a communion service with ashes at Noon; Mass with Ashes will be celebrated at 6pm; Mass in Spanish with ashes at 7:30 pm. All these services/Masses will be celebrated in the church. So, as you can see, there will be many opportunities to receive your Ashes and begin Lent with a renewed heart. Ash Wednesday is a day of FAST and ABSTINENCE. Make sure your main meal is meatless. Your other “snacks” should not equal a full meal, and should not include meat.
