We have two opportunities to help the needy of our community. First, the Knights of Columbus are once again collecting winter coats to be distributed throughout the city to those who might otherwise go without. No one need go without a proper coat; we have the resources to help.
Kid’s coats and adult coats will be accepted. NO used coats, please! All sizes of coats are welcomed, including XLarge children’s coats. Coat bins will be available to you in the narthex.
Also, the Women’s Altar Society will be collecting winter caps/scarves/gloves for the Women’s Sanctuary, in downtown OKC. The Women’s Sanctuary is administered by Catholic Charities and is a comprehensive day center for homeless and abused women. Again, a bin for donations will be available.
My recommendation: when you go to buy a coat, pick up the cap/scarf/gloves at the same time. Generosity to the poor is an occasion when we are forgiven of our venial sins, by the way.
PERSONAL INFORMATION
I have a minor medical procedure scheduled for November 8. My upper eyelids are drooping low enough to obscure my field of vision (especially my peripheral vision), and the ophthalmologist recommended that I have them corrected. Now, I may have bruises for a few days, and probably some band aids.
