Our first task will be to demo the three houses that currently occupy the site. We must first disconnect the utilities and then wait for the permit from the Village. This could take at least a month. Once we finish demolition, the site can be prepared for construction.
We’re probably looking at construction beginning in late April. We have a tenant still living in one of the houses, and we’re assisting them in finding a new place to live. Also, we need to move all of the books out of the old rectory before that house can be torn down. Once construction begins, we can expect a full twelve months before we can occupy the new building. So, probably late spring /early summer of 2025. Our plan is to open the Center for students in the Fall Semester of 2025.
In the meantime, we are still asking for pledges. We just received a generous $12,000 pledge (and a gift of $1,000 from a nice woman in New Mexico). The more cash we have on hand, the better. Once we burn through all cash on hand, the Archdiocese will begin loaning us money to complete the project. The loan will be repaid from our outstanding pledges. Ten Buck Sunday remains a very important collection for this project! Please give every month to that. Also, the Hispanic Community donates the money they raise from their monthly food sales to this campaign.
THANK YOU FOR THE MEAL TRAIN!
During my recovery from my upcoming knee replacement (Feb 5 – pray for me!), a group of families have volunteered to bring a noon meal by the rectory each day. I want to say thank you to them publicly. It will be a great blessing. Because Lent is so near, I hope they forego bringing any desserts. Ha.
WELCOME FATHER THOMAS J BOYER
Fr. Boyer will be here the weekend of Feb. 10/11 and on Ash Wednesday to help cover our Masses. It is a very generous gesture on his part to help me out. Please let him know how much we appreciate him.
