Our parish had a somewhat unique agreement with the Archdiocese regarding our commitment to the building of the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine (via the One Church Many Disciples campaign). We agreed to donate a set amount of $1,100,000 from the $9,000,000 we intended to raise for our facility expansion. Everything pledged and donated above the $1.1 million would return to the parish. This was a very advantageous agreement for the parish. Other parishes were promised only 50% of the funds donated above the amount designated for the Shrine.
Good news: we have raised the money needed to fulfill our obligation to the Archdiocese. What this means is that ALL One Church Many Disciples pledges paid by St Eugene donors from here onward will be given back to St. Eugene. These monies will be used to build our new Early Childhood Development Center.
Many of our parishioners paused their One Church Many Disciples pledges when Covid hit and wrecked our finances. If you are one of those who paused your pledge, I ask you to please complete your pledge as best you can. Without your gift, it will be very difficult to realize our vision.
If you, like me, have completed your One Church Many Disciples pledge, I ask you to consider renewing it for another five years. If you never pledged, please make a pledge now. I am pledging $15,000 to the Early Childhood Center. That works out to be $250 per month for five years. If your income is comparable to mine (priests make $30,000 a year), $250 a month may work for you. But, of course, I understand that everyone’s financial situation is different.
However, we need everyone to pledge and give something to the building of the Early Childhood Development Center, a $5 million project. Remember, we can’t break ground until we have half the money in cash and half in pledge. There is no gift too small and no gift too large.
