We are blessed with so many people who volunteer their time to make our parish a better place, and our school a better learning community. Think of it: ushers; lectors; Eucharistic Ministers; the Dad’s Club; the PTO; members of the Finance Committee and Parish Council; the Women’s Altar Society; the kids who serve Mass; Knights of Columbus; the choir; the sacristans; those who visit the sick--all of these people give of their time because St. Eugene is their faith home and they want to make it a true manifestation of Jesus’ love. As your pastor, I want you to know that I am aware that we couldn’t make it without you. This Thanksgiving, I shall offer prayer and praise for our volunteers. May God bless you and yours! Our Thanksgiving Day Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m.
ADULT EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY FOR ADVENT
I am going to offer a “deep dive” into the Christmas story on the first three Sundays of Advent after the 9:30 a.m. Mass. We’ll gather in the meeting rooms. We’ll look at the two appearances of Gabriel; the announcement to the shepherds; the Magi’s visit; Herod’s treachery; and the importance of our Blessed Lady in salvation history. All are welcomed. Please bring your Bible.
OUR ADVENT TREE AND THE BLESSING OF CHARITY
As we did last year, we’ll have a tree in the narthex adorned with opportunities to give a small gift to our school teachers and our RE teachers. As you probably know, teachers often reach into their own pockets to provide supplies for their classroom. These small gifts that we can give will show our teachers that we appreciate them and the holy work they do.
BLESSING OF OUR LITURGICAL MINISTERS ON SUNDAY NOVEMBER 26
Next weekend, at all the Masses, we will bless our newly commissioned Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers. They are commissioned by the Archbishop for service in our parish. Their service is invaluable. We’ve been asking for more men and women to volunteer and we had a great response. Thank you!
