This weekend you get to hear a little bit from me. These last few weeks I have been in a very reflective mood. The month of May is filled with end of the school year activities. After so many graduations, awards assemblies, field days and fun days, it is hard not to look back over the year that is coming to a close.
The dedication of the new shrine was a profoundly beautiful and moving event. Blessed Stanley Rother, a farm boy from Oklahoma, gave his life for Christ and for the poor and marginalized people of Guatemala. His martyrdom reminds us of the need to lead heroic lives, and to be prepared to give everything for Christ if need be.
This last Monday and Tuesday all the priests of the Archdiocese gathered at the Catholic Pastoral Center off NW Expressway for Continuing Education on the topic of Vocations Promotion. We had a refresher on the importance of and ‘best practices’ for helping a young man consider the possibility that God might be calling him to be a priest.
Hello, my name is Fr. Jerome Krug, and along with Fr. Jim, I am your new priest. I have been a priest three years. My first year as a priest was spent doing additional studies in marriage and family as well as in the intersection of psychology and theology. My most recent assignment before coming here was in the parishes of the Panhandle. There are four of them and they made for a very diverse and fascinating assignment.
