We are still accepting donations for our new Marian garden and shrine to be constructed on our east lawn. The company building the Early Childhood Center will also construct the garden, saving us on costs. If you donate $1,000 or over, your gift will be memorialized on a plaque; gifts of $150 or more will be offered a brick to memorialize. Please communicate with Sharon, our Director of Operations, for the brick memorialization. The garden promises to become a gathering spot for prayer and mediation, as well as a perfect spot for photos. I think the climbing roses will be a very striking backdrop. I confess that I have personal reasons for promoting this garden. I believe that it is important for Catholic parishes to construct beautiful and inviting outdoor prayer spaces, especially ones that honor the Blessed Virgin Mary. If we honor her, we can be assured that Jesus will honor our efforts. Also, in a world that can sometimes be unfeeling and cruel, it's important to celebrate the maternal impulse. Our mothers gave us life; Mary, the mother of the Church, gave us our Lord, the author of eternal life. Thank you to those who have already donated!! I have been moved by you generosity.
WOMEN'S ALTAR SOCIETY INFORMATIONAL MEETING AT THE RECTORY
Join me and the women of the Altar Society on September 25 at 7pm in the rectory for refreshments and discussion regarding the important work of the Altar Society. Most people in the parish have no idea how much important work is done by the Altar Society. New members are being sought so that the legacy of leadership will continue in the years ahead. Sometimes, there is a prevailing misconception that the Altar Society is only for "elderly" women. In fact, women of all ages are welcomed to join. I encourage you to come and explore the opportunities to serve the parish community. Frankly, I can't imagine parish life without an Altar Society. I hope and pray we can recruit more women to join.
A MISLEADING AND INACCURATE ARTICLE CONCERNING OUR SCHOOL TUITION
The publication Oklahoma Watch recently published an article concerning tuition increases in private schools since the passage of the Parental Tax Credit Program. The article listed our school as one of the schools that hiked tuition drastically. That simply is not true. In fact, we worked with our school parents to make sure that, at the very worst, tuition costs would only be raised modestly. Most families, of course, experienced a dramatic decline in their tuition burden. We reached out to Oklahoma Watch to request a clarification, but the publication was not willing to listen to us.
